Melissa High School American Sign Language teacher, Amy Diaz, and her ASL students welcomed nine elementary students (ranging grades K-6) from Sherman ISD's Deaf Education program on October 27, 2023. The students spent four class periods at the high school, including lunch. During this time, the Sherman ISD Deaf Ed students alongside the Melissa High School ASL students, completed a Halloween Catapult project, took a tour of the Melissa High School campus, ate pizza, read books, and got a surprise visit from Birdie! The ASL students were able to practice their sign language while creating a fun experience for the Sherman ISD Deaf Ed students.
