Melissa ISD elementary students enjoyed a full day of themed reading activities for the district’s annual #Read2Grow Day.

Campus librarians planned several reading activities for teachers and students to participate in throughout the day including a special visit from African storyteller, Ada-Ari. Other reading activities included “Mystery Readers”, “Book Character Scavenger Hunt”, “Book Buddies”, “Become a Poet”, “Smarties Get Caught Reading”, “Picnic With a Good Book”, and “Flashlight Reading”.

Over 30 students and employees representing grades K-12 came together in 2016 to develop a branded reading initiative for Melissa ISD. The goal of the district initiative was to simply “promote and encourage reading in all.” Spreading the message of #Read2Grow to not only our students but to family and community members in Melissa and beyond.
