Students who will enter 9th grade at Melissa High School in the fall of 2023 are expected to be the first Melissa ISD graduating class to have the opportunity to apply for participation in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) diplomacy programme during their 11th and 12th grade years.

Parents and guardians of current 8th grade students at Melissa Middle School who may be interested in taking IB courses in high school have one more opportunity on Monday, April 3 to attend an IB Preparation Meeting for Incoming Freshmen to learn more about the following:

  • reasons a student may be a good candidate for IB,
  • the differences between IB, Advanced (Honors), and Academic courses,
  • what IB courses could be offered at Melissa High School,
  • how IB course grades could be calculated in the student's GPA and class rank, and
  • the IB application and exit processes.

The purpose of this meeting is to answer the question, "What is IB and what does it mean for my current 8th grade student?"

The final IB Preparation Meeting for Incoming Freshmen will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Monday, April 3 at the Melissa ISD Home Office. The Home Office is located at 1904 Cooper Street, Melissa, TX 75454 (Get Directions). Parents and guardians who attended this meeting in January do not need to attend the April 3 meeting. As the IB diplomacy programme is developed at Melissa Schools, more information and resources will continue to be published online at www.melissaisd.org/ib.
